A source close to Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] hierarchy has revealed to Elombah.com that Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike spent a whopping 15 billion Naira to secure the elective slots for Uche Secondus as the National Chairman as well as other favoured candidates at the party’s National Convention.
The Convention held on Saturday, December 9, at Eagle Square, Abuja.
According to the source, Wike was the mastermind of the Unity List which sprang up during the Convention.
Ironically, in an analytical report made by Elombah.com, all the candidates in the list were “selected” for the various positions they were marked for.
The source also claimed that Wike paid off 6 governors to secure their support for Secondus.
He also said that the erstwhile National Caretaker Committee chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi got one billion Naira as well as juicy Contracts from Wike, whom he referred to as “Father Christmas”.
Also, three members of the Caretaker Committee got 500 million Naira, each Northern party chairman got 5 million Naira, while each delegate got $10,000.
According to the report, shortly before the Convention, Wike had berated party personnels that tried to stop him from ‘buying’ the Convention.
He reportedly reminded them that he spent over 7 billion naira to ‘buy’ judgment for the Makarfi-led faction of the party at the Supreme Court against Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.
Our source also informed that the Governor had promised to bankroll Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition come 2019.
It could be recalled that Wike was caught on tape threatening Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] officials prior to the re-run elections held in the state after he dolled out mouth-watering sums to them.
