The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has commended the Anambra State Government’s response to the tragedy in Umuchu that claimed many lives.
Obi who visited the victims of the accident at Visitation Hospital, Umuchu and gave the town moral and monetary support, was delighted when the President General of the town, Barr. Kingsley Onunkwo briefed him on what the town has been doing and plans to do.
The PG also explained to him how some individuals and organizations, especially the Anambra State Government, have come to their aid.
“Gov. Willie Obiano visited the scene of the accident and pledged that the government would take care of all the hospital bills,” he said.
The PG who revealed that Obi has been calling the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Godson Ezechukwu and himself in his characteristic show of concern for people who are suffering, prayed to God to reward him abundantly.
At the hospital to receive Obi were the PG; the Manager of the Hospital, Rev. Fr. Barnabas Okafor; the youth leader, Mr. Sunday Ogbogu; Drs Oti Chidiebere and Nduka Vitus, among others.
In another development, Obi also visited the family of JSP Nwokolo in Enugu. While condoling the family on his death, he called on Nigerians to remain committed to the Nigerian project and JSP did.
