Petrol Dealers V Ekiti Govt: APC Blinded Politics — By Lere Olayinka

Ekiti State Government is insisting that petrol stations in the state must have COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE such that anyone affected by fire outbreak from a petrol station will be adequately compensated.

This is one of the reasons Alhaji Suleiman Akinbami and his other Petrol Marketers instigated Tanker Drivers to stop bringing petrol to Ekiti State.

Even those among the marketers that are willing to bring in petrol are being blackmailed, harassed and intimidated.

And because you are a supporter of APC, you are blindly supporting the petrol marketers?

How I wish some of you were among the victims of the Mugbagba, Ado Ekiti fire incident that got as low as N10,000 for their burnt shops.

Owner of the Mugbagba, Ado Ekiti petrol station only insured the tanker that caught fire and the pumps. Even the shopping plaza built in the petrol station was not insured.

And here you are celebrating fuel scarcity in Ekiti because of politics.

Your case is like that king who did nothing when lion was killing his subjects.

He will only say ORAN LO (calamity has ended) when report is made to him that lion has killed one his subjects.

It was the day he was told that the lion has killed his only son that the king shouted ORAN DE (Calamity has come).

As for the petrol marketers, continue with your strike instead of simply getting:

1: Comprehensive Insurance

2: Functional Borehole

3: Fire Extinguishers with 3 attendants trained to use them.

And most importantly,

4: Comply with the government directive to stop work on the five petrol stations being constructed in residential and school areas, including the one at Idemo, Ado Ekiti being constructed on less than one plot of land and the one at Similoluwa in Ado Ekiti being constructed on canal.

The safety of Ekiti and its people is more important than any economic and political gains.
