The Niger State Police Command has arrested one Amina Aliyu, 24, for allegedly setting newly-married co-wife ablaze, in Sauka Kahuta area of Minna, the state capital.
According to reports, Amina went to the house of her co-wife and beat her to death with a pestle.
She, thereafter, set her body on fire before locking up in the house and leaving the scene.
The incident happened about two months shortly after the new bride got married to Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi, Amina’s husband.
Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun said the husband returned home from work that fateful day and found his new wife lying dead in her living room with parts of her body burnt.
Abiodun revealed that the suspect hit the deceased, who lived apart, with a pestle leading to her death.
