Police denies recovering 5,000 guns from mosques in Abia

The Abia State Police Command has disclaimed a viral picture showing cache of arms and posts claimed to have been recovered from mosques in Aba, Abia State.

Abia Police Command issued the disclaimer in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ogbonna Geoffrey, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command.

According to the report, Hausa/Fulanis offloaded the cache of weapons into a mosque located at Onions Market, Uratta respectively both in Abia State.

The statement quoted the State Police Commissioner, CP Janet E. Agbede stating unequivocally that there were no such recovery of firearms.

CP Agbede said that there were never such arms offloaded into a Mosque by Hausa/Fulani’s at the Onions market Uratta in the State.

SP Geoffrey advised members of the public to disregard the posts as not just fallacious but also handwork of propagandists aimed at stirring up a non-existing tension in the state.

The command reassured the public that the mischief makers will soon be arrested and made to face the rigor of the law.
