Police disperse pro-Sunday Igboho protesters in Ibadan [updated]

Armed policemen have dispersed supporters of Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, who staged a protest in Ibadan following the arrest of the Yoruba nation agitator Monday night in Cotonou, Benin Republic on his way to Germany along with his wife, Ropo.

ElombahNews earlier reported that Pro-Yoruba Nation agitators and supporters of Sunday Igboho, around midday on Wednesday, protested in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, over the arrest and detention of Sunday Igboho by Beninise authorities.

The protesters had gathered at Igboho’s house from where they marched to Soka Bus Stop along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The protesters carried placards bearing various inscriptions, singing, chanting and demanding immediate release of the activist.

Our correspondent said they also called on Yoruba leaders and the international community to intervene and ensure the release of Igboho.

Few hours after the protesters convened, however, policemen came in about four patrol vehicles, shooting in the air, harassing and dispersing the protesters.
