Police nab 2 robbery suspects at the point of using stolen ATM card to withdraw money from bank

Police in Osun have arrested two suspected armed robbers who attacked passengers of a bus coming from Lagos, heading towards Ilesa via Ife/Osu Express way in the early hours of Friday at about 9am.

The passengers were dispossessed of their valuables while the robbers escaped.

Confirming the arrest to ElombahNews, Yemisi Opalola, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, gave the names of the suspect as Abiodun Abdulahi, 35, living in Ekiti, and Godwin John living in Lagos but both came to Osun for the robbery operation.

“They were arrested today at about 1200hrs at Ife by Policemen

“The two (2) and other gang members, now at large robbed passengers of a bus coming from Lagos, heading towards Ilesa via Ife/Osu Express Road around 0945hrs were dispossessed of them of their valuables and escaped from the scene,” the officer said.

Luck ran out for the suspects when the driver of the bus went to the bank to revoke his ATM card at one of the new generation Banks in Ife only to suddenly identified the two of the suspects that robbed them.

“The police were quickly alerted and they were arrested. They have confessed to the crime,” Opalola said.
