Police Refuses to Release George Uboh After Meeting Bail Conditions

The Force CID, an arm of the Nigeria Police Force has refused to released the chairman of the George Uboh Whistleblowers Network [GUWN], Dr. George Uboh after he met all conditions stipulated for his release on Thursday in violation of his fundamental right to freedom of movement.

ElombahNews, May 15, reported that Dr. Uboh was arrested by FCID operatives after the exposure of a multi-billion dollar allegation levelled against the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN], Mr. Godwin Emefiele and other officials.

The operatives had stormed his Maitama office and conducted searches after which he was whisked away.

George Uboh had recently exposed series of corruption and embezzlement perpetrated by CBN officials in collusion with some eminent persons in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The latest was a N25 billion expose involving MTN, CBN, Standard Bank, Stanbic-IBTC Bank officials published by ElombahNews.

After two days in the detention facility of the FCID, the foremost whistleblower was not charged to court nor was he released even though the conditions have all been met.

An insider in the police facility, who spoke on condition of anonymity, informed ElombahNews that the police have really no major case against him.

The source informed that he would have been released if not for the recalcitrant attitude of the Deputy Inspector General of Police [DIG] Anthony Mike.

This medium was reliable informed that after a heated argument between Udoh and the DIG, he called the bluff and insisted on keeping him.

Meanwhile, a Human Rights crusader from the Eagle Eyes Transparency International, Dr. George Davidson has revealed that DIG Mike is keeping the whistleblower for selfish reasons.

Dr. Davidson revealed this in a short message he sent to the Inspector General of Police [IGP], Muazu Adamu.

In the messaged, copied to ElombahNews, he accused the DIG of receiving “a bullet proof jeep as a gratification to ensure that Dr George Uboh is kept incarcerated”.

He wrote: “Dear IGP, Muazu Adamu , we bring to your attention that DIG Anthony Mike while he is still pleading not to honor his posting from FCID by your posting just got a bullet proof jeep as a gratification to ensure that Dr George Uboh is kept incarcerated despite the fact he perfected his administrative bail yesterday.

“We know your Human Rights face. Save the soul.” ElombahNews could not confirm the authenticity of the allegation.

When the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mbah was contacted, his Personal Assistant answered the phone and said he could not provide any answer as Mr. Mbah was in a meeting with the IGP.
