Political support is fickle, transient and personal interest-driven

Privately, I have wondered how Jonathan now feel about his “father” Edwin Clarke. Or even Ndoma Egba his “brother”. Where is Asari Dokubo?

It is rare to find friends when you are in power and you need regular challenges to know who is with you and who is against you.

Rivers and Abia States on my mind…

Marvin Yobana, Okunabo Nkotaria and a few others backed Wike during the polls and ascended with him. But once Amaechi became minister and the tribunal and appeal court nullified Wike’s election they fled to APC and mouthed incomprehensible reasons.

I will give a penny to know how these gentlemen feel today after Wike’s election was confirmed by the Supreme Court.

After the Appeal court ruled on Abia, many people shocked me. But I will keep their names and my thoughts tucked in for now till the Supreme Court rule on Abia.

The first one week after the Appeal court ruling was scary stuff and amazingly revealed the hearts of men to me personally.

Thank God I am not Dr Okezie Ikpeazu who will necessarily have to continue smiling and attending to some of those men and women.

Privately, I have wondered how Jonathan now feel about his “father” Edwin Clarke. Or even Ndoma Egba his “brother”.

Where is Asari Dokubo?

I guess Kukunda of Abiriba was right when he taught me never to expect a career politician to be loyal to anyone.

President Buhari was also right when he said he initially appointed only those who were with him for many years. It is too risky to do otherwise in Nigeria where success attracts “great friends” while adversity defines great friendship.

Ultimately, it comes down to family and reliable old friends. All others are fortune seekers.

As much as possible put God and family first followed by those who have always been with you. Distance yourself from unreliable friends and cheer leaders who only are good as drinking partners.

Life is a great teacher if you stoop and learn from adversity and prosperity equally.
