Presidency Pledges To Act On Leah Sharibu Audio Recording


The Presidency has promised to act upon the audio recording in which Leah Sharibu, the remaining Dapchi schoolgirl held captive by Boko Haram appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to help her regain freedom.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, revealed this via his Twitter handle on Monday after the recording was published online.


Mr. Shehu assured that the Department of State Services (DSS) is analyzing the clip to work out an approach.

He tweeted:

“I am Leah Sharibu, the girl that was abducted in GGSS Dapchi. I am calling on the government, particularly, the President to pity me and get me out of this serious situation.”

“I also plead to the members of the public to help my mother, my father, my younger brother and relatives. Kindly help me out of my predicament.

“I am calling on the government and people of goodwill to intervene to get me out of my current situation. I am begging you to treat me with compassion.”

Young Leah celebrated her 15th birthday in captivity in May.

She was one of the victims of Boko Haram attack in her school, Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe State, when over 100 students were kidnapped in February.

They refused to release her along with other for refusing to renounce her Christian faith.
