Press Release – At last, the long-awaited list of persons for ministerial positions has been released to the Senate, for their confirmation. There is no doubt, that this action has once again ignited people’s reactions, either positive or negative, this we, of the Buhari Solidarity Front [BSF] consider to be the beauty of democracy.
BSF is particularly happy that PMB-led government has succeeded in putting to shame, political opponents who have been prodding him to appoint, what they called technocrats as ministers, so that illustrious men and women who worked tirelessly to bring about CHANGE; will be left un-accommodated in the government.
In this regard, we wish to highly commend the political sagacity exhibited by the President, in interpreting correctly, the evil intentions of the proponents of this idea, in place of politicians, who have been with him all these years, and have really understood the vision and mission of the party [APC].
Having said this, we wish to state unequivocally that the individuals so far presented to the Senate for screening are eminently qualified to work with PMB; this is because, it is the head that will call the tone. In this regard, it is an established fact that the integrity of the President is not in doubt.
We in the Front have equally noted the reactions from some quarters targeted on certain nominees, such as Rt. Honourable Chibuike Amaechi and Chief Audu Ogbeh, just to mention but a few.
We make bold to state that knowing the stuff President Buhari is made off; he must have done a through scrutiny of these persons before submitting them for screening and confirmation by the Senate.
With respect to Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, we of the Buhari Solidarity Front, wish to state unequivocally that his performance as a governor of Rivers State stands him out for ministerial job.
It is a common knowledge that Amaechi took Rivers State to a higher level during his tenure as governor.
In the present situation, the Front is of the view that we must not sacrifice competence and performance on the altar of political differences. For Chief Audu Ogbeh, his era in the past as the minister of communication witnessed a lot of laudable developments in the sector.
We vividly recall that his era witnessed the establishment of rural Postal agencies throughout the federation.
Furthermore, it is of note that he was never found wanting by the regime that toppled them in 1983, which incidentally was led by the incumbent President.
Hence, on account of his integrity, he is eminently qualified to be a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Therefore, the Front is of the view, that experience and integrity stand him out clearly in the present government, over and above the recycling theory being peddled by some myopic individuals in the opposition.
We of the Front wholeheartedly support the candidates so far submitted for ministerial positions and enjoin the distinguished Senators to expedite action on their confirmation.
