The Political intrigue in my state is something you can only watch on Tales By Moonlight, but it is what we have in my state as we speak.
The VC of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University held convocation on same day the Governor launched his book “PACKET OF GREAT LIES”.
A letter was sent to him, though, asking him to shelve the Convocation to make way for the governor book lunch.
The VC Prof Okafor held the Convocation as the letter from the Governor came very late when all preparations has been done.
Invitations have been extended and too late for reversal.
He caught the wrath of the Government and a whole lot of schemings were brought into play.
The Commissioner for Education Prof Omenugha is scheming to be the VC of same university.
She cited the case in Imo State where Rochas used his Commissioner for Education to replace the VC of Imo State University.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Professor Joseph Ikechukwu Azike had started lobbying for VC job from the days of Peter Obi.
Peter Obi, however, gave him reason why it is not feasible.
That is owing to the fact that he is not in Nigerian academic system and will find it very difficult managing a system he knows nothing about.
That makes Azike still cross and bitter for that rejection and since then he has never shown his disdain for the former governor.
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University was upgraded by Peter Obi who gave them 5 billion naira toward the near end of his tenure.
That was outside all the structures he built for them.
He gave them the money the day he changed the name of the university to enable them meet conducive standard for learning.
Meanwhile, before the money was given them, he had networked great asphalted roads within the campus.
He erected great edifices in the campus.
He also gave them school bus and 4 Hilux pickups for campus security.
