Mike stated this in Yola during a two days sensitization program organised by Chief of Army staff, Lt. Gen. T Y Buratai in the three most ravaged states by insurgents.
Father Nwafor, who is one of the resource persons, spoke on the topic: “Love your neighbor as yourself and Religion and sanctity of human life.”
He blamed the religion leaders of deviating from the true teachings and concentrated in materialistic and soothsaying sermons to some specific individuals for self-enrichment.
He added that extremists succeeded in teaching the wrong doctrines of the two religions in the country because Pastors and Imams are not preaching the true teachings enshrined in the two dominant religions in Nigeria.
The Reverend Father narrated how he had a harmonious relationship as a child in Biu Northern Nigeria, where he enjoyed both Sallah and Christmas celebration with Moslems without any hatred and sentiments.
“Something went wrong in our society, and I blame all the leaders of the two faiths by not doing justice to what is recorded in the two Holy Books,” Mike said.
Earlier the representative of chief of Army staff, Col. V.O Olatunji called for synergy among the two professing to help wade off Boko Haram in the country.
Olatunji added that the Nigerian Military are in a mission to ensure peace has returned to the Northern part of Nigeria through the help of civilian organization.
