A sources close to the Presidency has revealed to Elombah.com that President Muhammadu Buhari did not sack the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation [SGF], Mr David Babachir Lawal.

According to our source, who asked not to be mentioned, President Buhari simply made a deal with Mr Babachir Lawal to save the face of his government.

The deal, according to him, is that the former SGF will appoint anyone of his choice and step aside.

The source even suggested that Babachir might still be receiving his salary as the SGF as long as the tenure of this government lasted.

He then went on and produced supporting evidences to prove that there were undercurrents shielded from the gaze of the average Nigerians.

Going back memory lane, he said that Babachir helped to appoint Boss Mustapha, the new SGF, as GMD Inland Water ways.

He also pointed out that Babachir Lawal and Boss Mustapha hails from Hong, an Adamawa State community, and are both from the same Kilba Tribe.

Elombah.com, however, called his attention to the report that the presidency, on Monday, washed hands off the former SGF and former chairman of National Intelligence Agency [NIA], Mr Ayo Oke.

According to the report, the presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu says that Buhari will not stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from its investigation against them.

The presidential aide said: “The President has taken the administrative action. All other actions will be taken by relevant government agencies.

“The position of the President, therefore, is that investigative agencies, which have already commenced the investigation of the two officers removed from office, will go on with their work of investigation without any interference or hindrance.’’

To that he retorted: “Have we not been fighting corruption in this country since the birth of this present government?

“How many have been convicted? All of them are nothing but empty charade.

“I dare President Buhari to arrest and prosecute Babachir Lawal. If he does, then, don’t believe anything I tell you.

“He might only make a scapegoat of poor Ayo Oke but believe me he won’t raise a finger on Babachir Lawal, quote me.

“He will not arrest them. He will only  make a show for Nigerians to dance and before long another scandal springs up and the will be swept under the carpet with APC’s big broom,”, he noted.

Corroborating his story, a tweep, ABDULMALIK, tweeting at‏ @iam_2gunz, noted:

Nigerians are, no doubt, eager to see the outcome of the Grass-Cutter-Gate and the Ikoyi-Gate scandals that rocked the integrity of the Buhari administration.

In the words of Dr. Njakiri Damages,‏ @DrDamages:

“Pres. Buhari Sacks Babachir Lawal & Ayo Oke. Since we had to cry & cry & cry before you do the right thing, we’ve no energy left to clap.”
