A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port-Harcourt, the State Capital has declared as null and void the All Progressives Congress [APC] congresses held in the State by a faction of the party controlled by the Minister for Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.
The court which was presided over by Justice C. Nwogu held that the ward, LGA and State congresses of the Party which held on the 19th, 20th and 21st May were held against a subsisting order of the Court and aimed at arm-twisting the judiciary.
Recall, that a serving Senator from Rivers State, Mr. Magnus Abe had approached the court to obtain an injunction against the controversial ward congresses organized by a faction of the Party controlled by a former Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.
Thugs allegedly loyal to the former governor made attempts to stop the sitting of the court, but law enforcement agents and youths of Rivers State prevailed against them and justice was served.
The immediate implication of this judgement is that Rivers State delegates join other Party members across the Federation who would not be participating in the scheduled national convention of the Party on 23rd of June in Abuja.
This also indicates that the Oyegun led NWC may be succeeding in their plans to destroy the APC before the next election as part of their ploys to stop the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It is the wish of patriotic Nigerians, especially, of APC persuasion that leaders of the Party rise up and save the Party from the traitorous tendencies of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and his present gang within the Party’s NWC.
