Screening of aspirants for Okigwe senatorial seat commences
Primary election soon, PDP poised to win
On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, a four-man delegation from Wadata House, Abuja, the National Headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arrived Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
Their mission was to screen aspirants for the Imo North (Okigwe Zone) Senatorial District seat bye-election slated for Saturday October 31, 2020.
There are only two aspirants that have obtained the relevant Expression of Interest (EOI) and Nomination Forms.
They are Hon. Patrick Ndubueze, who flew the party’s flag in the 2019 general elections, and Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu, a notable party stalwart. Both are from Okigwe Senatorial District.
They’re eminently qualified for the office of Senator Representing Imo East Senatorial District in the Red Chambers.
There’s the solid assurance that whoever emerges the PDP candidate, after the screening and primary election, will win the election proper on October 31 with a wide margin.
The screening exercise is in line with the guidelines prescribed by the National Headquarters of PDP, Abuja.
It’s believed that the screening which commenced Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Imo PDP State Secretariat Okigwe Road, Owerri will be concluded within the week.
Further reports on the screening shall be communicated appropriately, where necessary.
The screening goes further to confirm the commitment of PDP to rule of law and due process in the affairs of the party. Integrity, probity, transparency and accountability have remained the guiding principles and watchword of PDP at all levels.
Power to the people!!
