Following the resignation of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu of Bauchi state, the office of the party’s National chairman has
remained vacant for some time.
Many party faithfuls have been jostling for the office, warranting a former Senator in second Republic, Senator Paul Wampana Vimtim to express his intention to contest for the exalted position of National Chairman of the party.
His lawyer, Barrister S.N. Mathew Esq, who submitted a letter of expression of interest on his behalf to contest for position of national chairman of PDP to Journalist in Yola, said:
“Our clients States that a National Chairman for the party who will operate for the first time from point of opposition and not the ruling party position as usual, requires a selfless party loyalist full of experience and integrity and also dedicated or committed to the service of the party with a view to bringing the party back to its known glory and to remain the largest party in Africa”.
The letter extolled the good qualities of Senator Paul Wampana Vimtim as one time speaker of a state House of Assembly (the then Gongola state), one time state chairman of People’s Democratic Party, one time minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, recently, the past National vice chairman of PDP north east zone.
His legal adviser, who signed the letter, added that there cannot be better man handle the office than his client, Senator Wampana.
Recently, the likes of Bala Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi), Nuhu Ribadu and Paul Wampana Vimtim all from North East have been seen to be struggling for the exalted seat of the biggest opposition party in the country.
