A community in Anambra State-Aguleri, the home region of the governor, Mr. William Obiano, has been attacked by Fulani herdsmen armed with sophisticated weapons.

Information of the attack was revealed to ElombahNews by our correspondent, Mr. Odumodu Gbulagu, in a short memo.

Mr. Gbulagu wrote: “Security going out of hand as Aguleri is under massive herdsmen attack.

“Aguleri was attacked in the night by herdsmen. FIve already feared dead.”

He, therefore, called on the seventeen southern governors across the three geo-political zones to rise to the occasion and take decisive action.

He said: “Now is the time for Southern Governors — South West, South East and South South — to show leadership  for their people.

“Now is the time to collectively agree and make laws within each territory banning open movement of cattle.

“What is happening now is not to be joked with or put on any posture suggestive of gratifying the North.

“The Governor of Benue state has offered needed example, it is regrettable that he has remained a lone voice.”

Mr. Odumodu also took a swipe a swipe at the outgoing Governor Obiano over his failure as insecurity proliferates across the state, including his home town.

This is despite the huge security vote the huge amount of money the governor takes every month in the name of security vote.

He said: “What is happening in Anambra State under Governor Willie Obiano — the kidnap of three Commissioners, many professors and university  workers, civil servants, traders — has shown that Anambra has no security in spite of security vote of over 1.5 billion Naira Obiano takes every month.

“Beyond this, collective response is needed and urgently too!”

Recently, herdsmen attacked a community in neighbouring Ebonyi State leaving several people dead, according to reports.
