Double registration of Gov Yahaya Bello
Senate on Wednesday began investigation into alleged double investigation of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Already , the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed the allegation of double registration by the Governor of Kogi state. Raising the matter during the Senate plenary session on the issue, Senator Mohammed Hassan said that three INEC staff were sacked by the Commission over their involvement in double registration of Governor Yahaya Bello and same commission issued Temporary Voters Card (TVC) to the Governor in question.
According to him, the Governor of Kogi State was involved in double registration and had 3 members of INEC sacked, got another voters card from another ward and claims he cannot be prosecuted because he has immunity.
In his remarks, Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki directed the Senate Committee on INEC to investigate the matter adding that Stability of our democracy lies on the stability of the electoral processes and as such we must ensure the processes are always fair such that we can be proud of.
