Senate Moves against incessant Rape of minor
Senate on Tuesday moved against child abuse mandating Committees on Judiciary, police affairs to interface with relevant agency to prevent rape of minor.
The senate decision came following point of order raised by Senator Rose Oko who expressed dissatisfaction with persistent child abuse in the Nigeria.
The motion came after series of allegations of Rape in the country and child molestations.
The Senate also urged judiciary to set up a special section to deal with rape of minor.
They Senators who spoke in support of the motion expressed dissatisfaction with persistent cases of child rape .
Lawan ingus remarks after extensive deliberation on the motion called for review of relevant laws in order to tackle those who are involved in child rape.
According to him, this is a very part of our lives. People have taken advantage of minors. We need sensitization and we must rise against rape. Our laws also need to be reviewed to ensure that they are effective and provide adequate punitive measure.
