Senate to Buhari: Declare state of emergency on insecurity now [update]
Lawmakers of the upper legislative chamber have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on insecurity following the rising spate of insecurity across the nation.
The Senate made the call following the reported kidnap of students and teachers of Government Science Secondary School, Kagara, Niger State on Wednesday.
The call followed a motion moved by Senator representing Niger East, Mohammed Sani Musa, on a matter of urgent public importance.
Speaking on the motion, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan said the frequent incidents of kidnapping of students will affect school enrollment over the years in the North.
