Senator Nwaoboshi Granted Bail By Lagos High Court
The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has, on Friday, granted bail to the senator representing Delta North in the Senate, Mr. Peter Nwaoboshi, on self-recognition.
ElombahNews had reported that Senator Nwaoboshi was charged to court over issues bothering on fraud and money laundering by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The first count of the charge stated that Nwaoboshi bought a property, Guinea House, situated at Marine Road, Apapa, Lagos for N805 million.
Part of the money, N320 million, however, are proceeds of corrupt practices and is tantamount to money laundering.
Justice Mohammed Idris instructed him to get two sureties who will each sign a bail bond of N50m within 72 hours.
The lawmaker was also asked to deposit his passport in the custody of the court pending the conclusion of the case.
Justice Idris stressed that he could not travel out of the country without the court’s permission until the case ends.
Justice Idris adjourned till June 13 and 20, 2018 for commencement of trial.
