Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro will officially be dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elombah.com has learnt.
Senator Obanikoro will be defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that he would be declaring his defection in Lagos at the weekend.
Obanikoro confirmed this to Channels TV.
While he is yet to clearly state reasons for his defection, reports say Mr Obanikoro has been seen recently at gatherings of APC chieftains.
Obanikoro was a minister under the Goodluck Jonathan administration and is being prosecuted for benefiting in the renowned Dasuki 2.1 billion dollar splash.
He was detained alongside other PDP members but was later granted bail.
Elombah.com also gathered that he decided to join the party after wide consultations with APC stalwarts to escape prosecution.
Many PDP members have, prior to Obanikoro, towed the same line including former old Anambra State governor, Jim Nwobodo and former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, to mention but few.
Obanikoro, it could be recalled, ran for the Lagos state governorship seat in 2015 but lost the ticket to Jimi Agbaje.
