Sharibu: Vigils, Protests Staked For Nigerian Embassies In UK, Kenya
CitizenGO, a Non-Governmental Organisation [NGO] fighting for the release of Leah Sharibu, the young school girl abducted by Boko Haram terrorists in Dapchi, Yobe State, is planning vigils and protests for Nigerian Embassies in London and the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
The latest effort comes following the audio recording of the abducted girl speaking from Boko Haram captivity.
Young Leah Sharibu had spoken while in her captivity and called for the Nigerian government and President Muhammadu Buhari to have mercy on her and secure her freedom from the insurgents.
Ms. Ann Kioko, the contact person of CitizenGO, in a newsletter to ElombahNews, appraised this medium of its efforts to secure freedom for Leah Sharibu.
Speaking about the audio record, Ms. Kioko stated:
“While this gives us hope that she is alive, it also calls for more to be done to save Leah.
“We have delivered signatures to President Muhammadu Buhari’s office and Nigerian Embassy in London.
“We have also done a press release besides going to visit Leah Sharibu’s mother in Dapchi.
“While we are happy Leah is alive, we need to save her from her captivity.
“She was abducted when she refused to renounce her faith, it is upon us, the soldiers of Jesus Christ to stand with her.
“We have planned a series of vigils and protests in London and Nairobi.
“We invite you if in these towns to come an join us as we hold vigils/protests at the Nigerian Embassies on September 7th 2018 from 10:00am.”
CitizenGO, THEREFORE, asks all and to do something for Leah’s freedom in this country.
Using the hastag #FreedomforSharibu, it enjoined all to, kindly, sign and share the petition if one has not yet done so using the link below:
it could be recalled that the terrorists refused to release young Sharibu because she refused to denounce her faith – Christianity – and convert to Islam.
Since then, Ann Kioko and the entire CitizenGO team have continued to pressure Nigerian government and all relevant authorities until they do something about Leah Sharibu and the Christian Persecution situation in Nigeria.
