By Christian Aburime
Again, it was another glorious outing for Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, leading aspirant for the November 6, 2021 Anambra governorship election, when Hon. Dozie Ferdinand Nwankwo, Member Representing Njikoka/Anaocha/Dunukofia Federal Constituency hosted him with key APGA leaders to an elaborate reception and endorsed him for Governor, Anambra State
Soludo who was completely overwhelmed by the mammoth crowd and the calibre of APGA party heavyweights that joined Hon. Dozie Nwankwo to welcome him to his country home in Enugwu-Ukwu, was full of gratitude, as he went around to greet and acknowledge their cheering welcome
Chief Victor Umeh, (Ohamadike), former National Chairman of APGA and a key stakeholder, welcomed Soludo to the grand event and thanked Hon. Dozie Nwankwo for being a great host.
Chief Umeh said his support for Soludo is borne out of the fact that he is the best material for the governorship position in Anambra State. He told the estastic audience that every aspirant he had previously supported have always won election and same will happen to Soludo in the coming months.
He cautioned some youths whom he said have taken to the social media platforms especially on Facebook to denigrate him for supporting Soludo.
Chief Umeh advised the youths to refrain from being misled by some unscrupulous individuals and should instead respect the wisdom of the elders who are more matured and experienced.
He said the party decision is supreme and what everybody is doing now by supporting Soludo is the decision of the party which cannot be changed by anyone. He charged those that are still sitting on the fence and are yet to join the Soludo train to come on board now.
“APGA is a party we must maintain and respect and the youths should also learn to respect the party and its vision” Chief Umeh said
“The self ambition of an individual can not prevail over the life of the party and its survival” Chief Umeh further said
He commended Governor Willie Obiano for his excellent work and said Soludo will further take the state higher when he succeeds Obiano
Chief Umeh assured the gathering that when it gets to the campaign proper he will reveal to Anambra people who the other contestants are and their true character
The host, Hon Dozie Ferdinand Nwankwo, handsome and amiable, welcomed Soludo formally and said it is an honour to have him around in his Constituency. He said plainly that the primary election is over in favour of Soludo based on the massive support the party leadership has given him. He said he had wanted to contest the governorship election before now but stepped down for Soludo in order to join forces with him for his gubernatorial ambition
He assured Soludo that he will work hard to deliver his Constituency both in the primary and the gubernatorial elections for him to emerge as the next governor of the state
Concluding his speech, Hon Dozie Nwankwo moved a motion with the audience largely consisting of members of his Constituency for support and adoption of Soludo as their consensus candidate and was overwhelmingly voted ‘yes’
Hon Chinedu Obidigwe, the charismatic and ‘crowd-puller’ politician, described Soludo as the candidate that is accepted everywhere in Anambra State. He remarked that Soludo was a true party man who resisted all temptations and supported Governor Willie Obiano fully. He affirmed that Soludo is highly exposed and connected globally, adding that he will bring the world to Anambra State
“Anambra International Airport will be more busier than any other Airports in the country when Soludo becomes the governor” Hon. Obidigwe said
He said Anambra State will not go back to the biblical proverbial “Egypt” again, stressing that APGA is the party for the Igbo nation which all Ndi Anambra should support
He reaffirmed again that Soludo is for the youths and every youth in the land should therefore queue behind him by giving him all the support he needs to become the next governor of the state
Soludo in response, expressed his gratitude to Hon Dozie Nwankwo, APGA political leaders, dignitaries and supporters at the occasion. As always, he began his speech by acknowledging God and singing praises to Him.
He called for a minute silence in honour of late Chief Anthony Okeke, (TOFIC), Isuofia APGA Ward Chairman who had just passed on and Chief Obiora Nzechukwu ( OCJ), chairman, APGA Aguata, who also died recently
Soludo described Hon Dozie Nwankwo as a man of principles
” Dozie, I thank you immensely. Remain who you are. I treasure this reception and I deeply appreciate it.” he said
Soludo assured both his host and the audience that he will never take their support for granted. He said the clamour for him to join the gubernatorial race started about two years ago with various Support Groups across the State which has risen to 30 support groups as at today.
He said these Support Groups are self-funding and out of their deep conviction and passion have equally supported him financially to procure his nomination and expression of interest forms.
He described APGA as the party for the Igbo man and the only platform for Ndigbo in the Nigerian Federation
He said his vision is to create wealth in Anambra State
“Anambra is a promise land. The world will come to Anambra to live, invest, shop and be entertained” Soludo said
He told the audience that the youths will be taught how to fish instead of depending solely on paid employment or government appointments
” We will deliberately create 1000 youth millionaires every year who will also create job opportunities for others” Soludo reassured
He promised to make Anambra State the manufacturing and Industrial hub of Nigeria by creating the enabling environment for businesses to thrive and blossom
To reassure his audience that he meant every word he had told them, Soludo humbly reminded them of the success of his banking consolidation that created millions of jobs and made billionaires out of hardworking Nigerians who seized the opportunity provided by the banking revolution to grow their businesses and reap bountifully from it. He said since the consolidation of banks no Nigerian has lost a kobo to any bank again.
“This revolution is coming to Anambra State. We will build on the foundations Governor Willie Obiano has laid. And Anambra will go higher and higher. This is the people’s movement and nobody can battle with the Lord” Soludo said
