South-East Govs To Meet Buhari Over Enugu Airport Closure
The South-East Governors’ Forum will meet President Muhammadu Buhari over the closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
This was disclosed to ElombahNews by the Chairman of the forum, David Umahi after the meeting a Ohanaeze Ndigbo, religious leaders and South-East National Assembly Caucus in Enugu,
Umahi said they had resolved to meet with Buhari following fears that the airport could be abandoned.
ElombahNews has reported that the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika told the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation that N10bn was needed to rehabilitate the runway and fix other things at the airport.
“We have resolved to meet with the President for the welfare of our people in South-East,” the Ebonyi State Governor stated.
Governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) attended the meeting while Imo State was represented by Deputy Gov. Gerald Irona. Anambra was not represented.
The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo attended the meeting where Sen. Enyinaya Abaribe represented the members of the region in the National Assembly.
