Tanker explodes in Niger State, razes houses, shops
Several houses and shops were, on Sunday, gutted by fire in Niger State after a petrol-laden tanker collided with a trailer and exploded in inferno destroying properties worth hundreds of millions of Naira.
The incident took place in Lambata Town of Gurara Local Government in Niger State.
According to eyewitnesses, the tanker fell down and caught fire instantly after it collided with the trailer.
Houses, shops, cars and other valuables were caught in the raging inferno before men of the Nigeria Fire Service came fron nearby town of Suleja and intervened, bringing the fire under control.
Details of the damages as well as casualty figures have not yet been specified as at press time.
