Think Home, Invest On Education, Igbo Leaders Urge Igbos


Being the communiqué of the 2018 edition of the Igbo international Christmas retreat organised by the World Igbo Leadership, Education and Cultural Council, WILECC and hosted by Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze , Onowu of Abagana and President of  the Igbo World Assembly

Igbo leaders,  stakeholders , organisations and opinion leaders met at Abagana , Anambra state under the auspices of the third World Igbo Xmas Retreat on Sunday 30th December , 2018 and deliberated on several issues affecting the Igbo nation.

After series of lectures and brainstorming session by the participants, the following resolutions were agreed upon.

  1. Igbos must think home and invest on education, science and technology .
  2. Igbos must be strategic in their approach to all issues affecting them in Nigeria.
  3. Igbos must not be intimidated by anybody in Nigeria and must assert their rights , having contributed more than any group to the foundation and development of Nigeria.
  4. Igbos must build political bridges with other groups in Nigeria and must be meticulous in taking decisions concerning 2019 elections.
  5. The era of undue ego, extreme individualism and narcissism which affect the collective interest of Ndigbo must be extirpated for group and collective interest.
  6. Igbo groups , individuals and organisations within and outside the country should come together and support the THE IGBO YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERNMENT FOUNDATION  whose aim is to be a fulcrum for empowering Igbo Youths and women
  7. Igbo groups , individuals and organisations should put the machinery to support the erection of the following landmark institutions in Igboland
  8. Nnamdi Azikiwe centre for strategic and geo-political studies at Onitsha
  9. Dr M I Okpara centre for effective leadership at Umuahia
  10. Dr Akanu Ibiam Human development centre at Unwana in Afikpo
  11. Z. C Obi centre for Igbo Unity and Rennaisance at Nnewi
  12. Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu centre for Igbo technology, science and invention
  13. F C Ogbalu Centre for Igbo Heritage , language and culture at Abagana
  14. Sam Mbakwe Centre for Business development and foreign investment into Igbo land at Avutu in Obowo
  15. Igbo Hall of Fame at Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Secretariat at Enugu

These centres would be attached and managed by Ohanaeze Ndigbo and IWA AND WILECC

The Retreat thanked the chief host of the 2018 World Igbo Xmas Retreat Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze for his uncommon patriotism and wished him well in all his endeavours. They also congratulated Chuks Ibegbu , the Publicity Chief of Ohanaeze Ndigbo who initiated this programme and called on Other Igbo stakeholders to assist in sponsoring and hosting these Retreats annually.
