Tinubu, Akande Absent At APC Caucus Meeting In Aso Rock
President Muhammadu Buhari described the decision of the National Executive Committee NEC of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC to grant a one year tenure extension to its National Working Committee NWC, as an infringement on not just the party constitution but the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Buhari stated this at the 5th NEC meeting of the party which is currently underway at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
National chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, led other officers of the party to the meeting.
The national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was however absent from the meeting.
Tinubu is heading a presidential reconciliation committee set up to reconcile aggrieved party members across the country.
Other top government officials who attended the meeting are Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and governors.
It had earlier been speculated that Tinubu may present his interim report at the meeting.
The caucus meeting was however held ahead of a meeting of the party’s National Executive Council on Tuesday.
The national caucus meeting was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
