Tinubu, Ekweremadu Condemn Lagos Explosion

Says Perpetrators Must Be Punished

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress [APC], Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ‘strongly condemned’ the Lagos “pipeline explosion” incident that has so far claimed at least 17 lives.

The explosion had hit the Satellite and Festac Towns axis of Lagos on Sunday.

Reacting to the incident, Tinubu, taking to his Social media handle, condemned the explosion and asked that the perpetrators be punished.

Tinubu tweeted:

“This tragedy should not have happened. Those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident did not deserve to die so gruesomely.

“I strongly condemn this incident. I commiserate with families and relations of those who died. I also sympathise with those who lost their valued property.

“In their memories and in order to avert similar occurrence in future, the authorities must get to the root of this incident and curb incessant explosion in the area.”

On his part, the former Deputy Senate President, Mr. Ike Ekweremadu commiserated with the victims and saluted “Rev. Sr. Henrietta Alokha, who gave her life to save her students.”

He tweeted:

“My heart goes out to Bethlehem Girls College, Catholic family & all victims of the #festacexplosion.

“I salute the sacrifice of Rev. Sr. Henrietta Alokha, who gave her life to save her students. Greater love has no one than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends.”

The explosion, which hit the Satellite and Festac Towns axis of Lagos on Sunday, killed at least 17 persons and destroying numerous houses with collateral damages running into billions of Naira.
