Tinubu mourns ambition as Buhari endorses Gaidom
Sources close to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu say that all is not well in the camp of the former Lagos State governor.
The development followed President Muhammadu Buhari’s announcement wherein he endorsed the All Progressive Congress (APC) faction led by Hon. Victor Giadom on Wednesday.
“The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman,” Garba Shehu, a presidential spokesperson said in a statement.
Shehu said President Buhari would be attending the virtual meeting Giadom called for tomorrow afternoon.
This is “because he will always act in accordance with the law, the President will be attending the virtual meeting Giadom called for tomorrow afternoon,” the presidential spokesman said.
With the development, President Buhari may have put a final nail on the ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to contest the 2023 Presidential elections.
A former Director of Strategy/Communication under President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Jackson Ude made assertion on his media platform.
Mr. Ude noted that Tinubu has been making nocturnal consultation with political leaders, announcing his desire to succeed President Buhari.
Part of his schemes, according to the former aide, was to keep former APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, or former Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as the party’s chairman,
This, he said, will create a smooth path to his aspiration.
“Buhari broke his silence on the leadership crisis rocking the APC, saying that the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman.
“The President’s tacit endorsement of Giadom is seen as an endorsement of the Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s led faction of the APC,” he noted.
It was gathered that Tinubu, Ajimobi, and former National Chairman—Oshiomhole belong to the same faction in APC.
“The reason why they were insisting on having the former Oyo State Governor as Acting National Chairman to keep the status quo following the removal of Oshiomhole.
“Governor El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi have been at the forefront of some APC leaders who are openly against the aspirations of Tinubu,” Ude added.
