Saturday, 27th of May 2017, has been declared by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, as 1st Ramadan, 1438 AH, the commencement of the fasting by Muslims.
It should be noted that the Ramadan is a yearly event performed by the Muslim faithful in obedience to Allah.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, announced the sighting of the new moon in Sokoto, on Friday, in a nationwide broadcast.
He Acknowledged the sighting of the moon in various states of the country, which includes Benue, Adamawa, cross River, Delta, Kebbi and Lagos State.
Having sighted the moon and authenticated by the National Moon Sighting Committee, the Sultan implores all the Muslim ummah to commence fasting accordingly.
He also advice them to devote themselves fully to the worship of Allah, throughout the Ramadan month, which is a holy month.
” We should also pray fervently for the blessings of Allah for President Muhammadu Buhari and others in leadership positions in Nigeria.
”This is to enable them to succeed in steering the affairs of our dear country, as well as sustenance of peace and stability in Nigeria and the world,” the sultan adviced.
