Tribunal Commences Hearing On Uba Brothers Versus Ifeanyi Ubah
By Eneh Victor Chigozie
The Anambra election petition tribunal sitting at Awka, the state capital, has commenced hearing on the petition filed by chief Chris Uba and his brother Andy Uba against the election of the Senator-elect of Anambra south senatorial zone, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
When the case was called up, the INEC returning officer for Aguata LGA area through his counsel pleaded with the court to give him time to respond to the originating summons as a party to the case.
The returning officer said he was served in the morning of yesterday and had to take a little time to respond.
Consequently, the counsel to Chief Chris Uba of PDP requested the court to consolidate the petitions of the Uba brothers which the court declined stating that it is only the appeal court that grant such request.
The tribunal adjourned to May 31 to enable the INEC LGA returning officer to file his response.
Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah of YPP won his election at the polling units across the senatorial zone. He won fairly and squarely. Ndi Anambra south needed a change and voted for their choice.
Those plotting to become senators through the window hoping to use the courts will be embarrassed.
Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has a 4 year mandate of the people of Anambra south.
Those at the tribunal were urged by electorates to respect the wishes of their people and join hands with senator Ubah of YPP to bring legislative dividends to the zone.
