Trouble looms for Uche Ogbuagu as Imo Assembly probe purported resignation letter
Uche Ogbuagu, the recently sacked former Majority Leader of the Imo State House of Assembly, may have found himself in more hot water, over a resignation letter he published on the social media, barely hours after his colleagues sacked him as their Majority Leader.
Ogbuagu had claimed in the letter, which was released and circulated on the social media, that he was not sacked by his party members, rather alleged that he had earlier before then, tendered his resignation.
From the letter, it appeared he had resigned his position, almost a month before his sack.
Interestingly, Uche Ogbuagu, was spotted at a recent function, days before his sack, paradimg himself as the House Majority Leader.
On the day of his sack, Uche Ogbuagu drove to work, with his seal of Majority Leader, boldly displayed in front of his car.
Also interesting, is the fact that the letter Uche Ogbuagu circulated, did not show any evidence that it was submitted officially or received by the Speaker of the State Assembly.
Official documents such as that, usually has signature and seal of the Speaker, acknowledging receipt, but in this case, it didn’t, raising suspicion that the letter was a desperate attempt by Uche Ogbuagu to save face.
The Imo State House of Assembly, had since then, come under criticism and ridicule, following the release of the letter. Imolites have labelled the leadership as uncoordinated, since he cannot properly sack a principle officer, without drama.
Uche Ogbuagu’ s letter also took a swipe at the House Leadership, both in the matter he addressed the Speaker, and the content of the letter, prompted the Imo State Assembly to constitute a panel, to look into the purported resignation letter by Uche Ogbuagu.
Uche Ogbuagu, if found to have falsely came up with the letter, in an attempt to save face, at the ridicule and expense of the Imo State Assembly, may face sanctions, which could even include suspension from the State Assembly.
Uche Ogbuagu had won the Ikeduru State Assembly seat through the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, but had a falling out with Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, because he wasn’ t given the Deputy Speaker position he wanted under Ihedioha.
Uzodinma rewarded him with the Majority Leader position, for working against Ihedioha, but with his sack from the position, political analysts expect to see Ogbuagu come against Hope Uzodinma soon
