Twitter permanently suspends Trump’s account
Cites risk of further incitement of violence
Twitter has permanently suspended the account of President Donald Trump, citing risk of further incitement to violence.
Twitter said it determined that two tweets from President Trump on January 8 were highly likely to encourage people to replicate criminal acts that took place at the U.S. Capitol.
Meanwhile, Twitter shares fell with over 3% in after-hours trading after Trump’s account was suspended.
Similarly, Apple has threatened to remove the Parler social networking service – used by many Trump supporters – from its App Store unless the company changes its content moderation policies.
