UK reports deadliest Covid-19 day with 1,325 deaths, plus other updates

  • The United Kingdom has recorded 1,325 daily coronavirus deaths, being its deadliest day of pandemic

  • The country also reported more than 68,000 daily coronavirus cases for first time on Friday.

  • Pfizer says its COVID-19 vaccine appears to work against mutation in new variants discovered in UK and South Africa.

  • The United States reports more than 4,000 daily coronavirus deaths for first time since the commencement of the pandemic.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded 1544 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Also, 1,342 deaths have so far been recorded.
