They said that, the Governors intervention will go a long way in helping them adjust to their present reality, of life without salaries, as well as reduce the hardship and suffering, they and their families are going through after leaving office.
They also offered explanations on the initial misconception that delayed the payment of the salaries, assuring that the appointees’ salaries were duly determined by Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission’s provisions.
As such, no appointee could has earned higher than what is provided by the regulatory body, except for some senior Aides whose statutory hazard allowances were included in their last salaries or those whose arrears of salaries where correctly added to their salaries.
The said salaries altogether amounted to a 7 million naira difference in the amount that was provided for the payment of political appointees of the State Assembly.
While hailing the Governor’s giant strides in the area of human empowerment, education, road construction, health, renovation of the Assembly complex and many other fits, they commended the Governor for his impressive record of payment of salaries before the 25th of every month before the unfortunate drop in allocations accrued to the state.
While insisting that Imo was not the only state affected by the delay in the payment of worker’s salaries, they however, attributed the delay to the 80 percent drop in federal allocation to the state.
The appointees who are of the Governor’s All Progressive Congress APC, and cut across the 27 local governments of the state further warned distractors, saboteurs, rumour mongers and vindictive politicians to stay clear of the APC government and to stop escalating family issues .
