UPDATE: Atiku’s Lawyer, Son-In-Law Arraigned, Remanded In EFCC Custody
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] has, on Wednesday, arraigned one Abdullahi Babalele, a son-in-law of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] presidential candidate over alleged money laundering to the tune of $140,000 ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Also arraigned, though separately, was Atiku’s lawyer, Uyiekpen Osagie-Giwa, said to be for allegedly laundering $2 million also in connection with the election.
Both Babalele and Osagie-Giwa, who were arraigned at the Federal High Court in Lagos, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo adjourned till Thursday to take their bail applications and ordered that they be returned to the EFCC custody.
