UPDATE: Supreme Court Affirms Fintri Adamawa Governor
The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, affirmed Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] as the validly elected governor of Adamawa state.
The seven-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, unanimously dismissed the appeals by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress [APC] in the last governorship election, Jibrilla Bindow.
The judges held that the APC’s candidate failed to prove their allegation that Fintri emerged through over-voting.
Reading the judgement on behalf of the panel, Justice Mohammed Dattijo held that APC and Bindow did not prove that number of votes from the disputed 385 polling units, exceeded the total number of voters that were accredited with both the Smart Card Reader, the Voters Register and the Form EC8A.
