Uproar After Boko Haram Capture Borno Towns, Kill Soldiers

Nigerians from various quarters have raised outcries after Boko Haram captured army fortresses in at least six towns in Borno State and killed several  soldiers.

In an update on Boko Haram terrorists attack on Headquarters 7 Brigade MNJTF Baga, the Nigerian Army had stated that ON Wednesday, 26th December, 2018, suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked the headquarters of 7 Brigade Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Baga, Borno State, at about 7.00pm.

According to the report, the troops along with their Nigerian Navy counterparts put up a very determined fight to repel the attack throughout the night, while Sector 3 Operation LAFIYA DOLE sent in reinforcement who are in hot pursuit of the terrorists.

The Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman also assured that a Search and Rescue team has been constituted.

General Usman also stressed that the Nigerian Air Force component has also been mobilised and are “engaging the fleeing terrorists”.

According to him, “a naval personnel was killed in action. So far, no further details of casualties yet as efforts are ongoing to clear the terrorists hiding in Baga and environs.”

He enjoined all to remain calm as the troops conduct clearance and mop up operations and implored members of the general public to disregard any contrary information circulating on the attack as the Army will keep all posted with development on the pursuit and mop up operations.

Just after the press statement, a soldier sent in a letter from the Baga warfront lamenting that troops psychology have dipped after successive defeat by Boko Haram in the last quarter from Zari, Garunda, Gudunbali, Cross kawa, then Arege to Matele in the fringes of lake Chad.

According to the soldier, “troop lost interest to fight because the military authority didn’t appreciate their problem of lack of equipment and morale.

“So many equipment have been lost and there is no replacement or repair of the defective ones.”

Abdul Eljumma:

Baga has been completely dislodged by BH sir and they’ve Carted away with almost all the weapons and ammunitions with the exception of the multiple barrel truck that NAF where able to destroyed on their way going with it. And Wallahi sir from Jilli to Metele up to Baga attack the military has information three to 2 weeks before the attack. Right now as I’m typing this BH are gathering at a location in Abadam LGA planning to attack 119bn at Mallamfatori or Monguno or Gubio or Mobbar sir this guys have lunched a full scale war on our troops for the past six months and killing and overrunning our troops from Jilli to Baga now and nothing tangible is seems to be to stop it what is going on people are angry troops moral is getting low by each passing day

Emmanuel Chigbonkpa:

I heard the villagers in Baga saw the insurgents gathering, they passed the information to the sector command but fails to act immediately, many times before Boko Haram terrorists struck there is early information which the brigade commandas neglect only to act when is late therefore putting our soldiers in a tight corner to attack immediately, for the past few weeks Boko Haram terrorists have been attacking military bases simultaneously in North East, if the military don’t want to fight they should look for MERCENARIES who are trained to withstand brutal wars.

Adama Michael:

Propaganda and sentiments aside we need to pity all the soldiers that are fighting Boko Haram, the place is becoming a death zone. It’s not about Buhari but we are faced with a common sinister enemy in Boko Haram

Zipporah Ladidi Jock:

What amazes me with some Nigerians this period is when there is an attack and people do post to express how they feel ,you all will come with stories say na propaganda…. Now my question Did Soldiers die or not? The day before yesterday my mom went for a wake keep in the Ribadu and the news broke out and in its usual wailing everywhere….you all shouting propaganda may God have mercy on u cos people are in pain….y’all always quick to defend the government that can’t even give the poor boys weapon to fight…

Adama Michael:

Dear Zipporah I wonder o. At least the army confirmed the death of some soldiers, policemen and a naval personnel on STV news today, yet some people will say it is propaganda, Wailer’s speech and an attack on Buhari. May the lord judge them and protect our innocent soldiers
