VIDEO: Fire guts Accountant-General’s Office in Abuja [More Update]

Fire on Wednesday gutted the Treasury House which is the office of the Accountant General of the Federation in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The fire broke out barely five days after the federal government shared 5.2 billion to 2.6 million vulnerable people at Kwali Area Council of Abuja.

Consequently, the leadership of the National Assembly has faulted the way the Social Investment Programme [SIP] of the Federal Government is being implemented and called for an enabling legislation in line with global best practices.

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila made their reservations about the scheme at a meeting held on Tuesday with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq and some top officials of the Ministry.

Just one day after reaction of the National Assembly leadership, fire gutted the office responsible for the distribution of the funds.


Lawan, Gbajabiamila fault SIP Implementation

Cause of the fire is not known as at the time of filing this report.
