Video: Retired Colonel Defends Killing Of 3 Police Officers, Says Soldiers Trained To Kill

A retired officer of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Hassan Stan Labo has defended the killing of three elite police personnel of the Intelligence Response Team [IRT] led by ASP Felix Adolije by soldiers manning a check point in Taraba State.

The soldiers opened fire and killed the three officers and one civilian along the Ibi -Jalingo Road while taking a kidnap kingpin , Wadume, to the Command Headquarters in Jalingo .

The three officers, Inspector Mark Ediale, Sergeants Usman Danzumi, Dahiru Musa and the civilian died on the spot as a result of gunshot injuries.

Colonel Stan Labo, during an interview with Channels TV, explained how the Nigerian Army operates and nature of their training.

Speaking on the tactical nature of the Nigerian Army, the Colonel said that they are trained to kill which explains why the soldiers launched an assault.

Recall that, the Nigerian Army had claimed that the soldiers fired at the IRT team because they failed to stop at three checkpoints.

The claim was, however, dismissed by the police which demanded the whereabouts of the kidnap suspect who was reportedly freed by the soldiers .

Condemning the incident, the police accused the army of lying over its claim that the killing was a mistake.

However, the army said the police was making “inciting and inflammatory” comments over the incident. It warned of a possible escalation of the crisis.
