We can produce world class athletes with Agege Stadium- Aspirant
Mr. Sola Osolana, the Chairmanship Aspirant in Agege Local Government area of Lagos State, says the council will produce world class athletes among youths with facilities at Agege Stadium.
Osolana, seeking chairmanship position on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that he would attain the feat, if elected.
“Sporting activities will portray a good image of Agege out there; this is because Agege is lucky to have a big stadium. We shall produce the best athletes among our youths in all sports.
“So, many youths will be encouraged and helped to showcase their talents in sporting activities, and they will be paid monthly, just to make Agege Street safe.
“We will engage our youths; I remember the Principal Cup when I was growing up as a child here in Agege, which has now been neglected.
“So, we can start with Chairmanship Cup to engage our youths in Agege,” he said.
According to him, talents hunt will also be organised for Agege youths to showcase their talents in singing, rap, boxing, wrestling and other profitable skills.
Osolana said that Youth Centres would also be established in Agege for constant practice among them, while thorough supervision would be coming from the local government on the daily activities.
“There will be youth centres in charge of training and practices every day, as no youths club or centre is available in Agege for now.
“But, I am saying that with God, myself and the good people of Agege voting for me, all these will come to stay for better usefulness of Agege youths,’’ he said.
The chairmanship aspirant said that he has ‘3Ms programmes for youths in the community.
“I have what is called 3Ms for grassroots youths, which means Money, Materials and Mentorship.
“First, we will get the youth statistics where we have the educated, semi-educated, and the one that wants to trade needs 3Ms.
“Some of them just need money to establish, some need material, equipment for their trade and some of our youths need mentorship,” Osolana said.
He said that many youths would be mentored on how to write resume or where to send their Curriculum Vitae to through the youth centres.
“For those who do not know how to write or where to send their Curriculum Vitae (CV) to, there will be mentorship for such an opportunity.
“Guinness Plc. is using part of Agege Local Government residence, it should be able to employ some of our youths.
“It’s an advantage to employ our youths and dittos to all private businesses in Agege; we will work hand in hand to make sure that Agege youths are engaged.
“Even, if you want to be a bouncer or security operative, talents does not limit to dancing, singing, literary and debating; some can be good in security.
“We will train them, and also employ some of our trained street boys to ensure that Agege Street is safe for all,” he said. (NAN)
