We have rendered consular assistance to Nnamdi Kanu —UK Envoy
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, has said that the British authorities have rendered consular assistance to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The British High Commissioner disclosed this while speaking on Arise TV Wednesday morning.
It will be recalled that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) did not bring Kanu before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court on Monday to continue his trial bordering on terrorism among others.
This forced Nyako to adjourn the case till October 21, with Kanu’s absence sparking a lot of criticisms and anxieties.
Laing stated the IPOB leader has received Consular support of the British government being a British citizen while talking on Wednesday on Arise TV.
Speaking, she said: “We have offered all necessary Consular assistance to Nnamdi Kanu as a British national.
“No, I cannot say anything about the case, but we have rendered Consular assistance to Nnamdi Kanu.”
