30 Days Writing Challenge Day 2:

What is the Farthest you’ve gone from home?

So will I still say Lagos? Ra ra ra ra ra! I would say my mind. When Master Tobe Osigwe told me I could journey the world and time travel by reading and developing my mind, I thought it was one illusion writers shared until I started writing.

The Farthest I have gone from home? Omo this one sef. Mi o mo. I would have said Benin Republic but that too would be a very boring story. So, I’d say Lagos. Shebi Eko o’ni ba je? Eko ti ba je!

I had made travels on my own several times. Most times by road and other times, in my mind. I remember I had journey through the streets of Warsaw at the Height of the World War II in my mind. As Hitler proclaimed from his Capitol Building in Munchen, “ Warsaw Saw war and was no more”, I watched as the soldiers cheered the sagacity there leader expressed in his words. I have journeyed with Monsieur Talleyrand and Lord Bismarck around Europe and I was there when Napoleon was banished to the Island of Elba. I heard him talk to the rats in his prison cell like a mad man and I wondered if this was the man who had made Europe shiver. All these were in my head. In my mind, all these things happened.

So will I still say Lagos? Ra ra ra ra ra! I would say my mind. When Master Tobe Osigwe told me I could journey the world and time travel by reading and developing my mind, I thought it was one illusion writers shared until I started writing.

I remember how much time I have spent in a Cafe’ in New York drinking coffee with Nickie Minaj or talking with Toni Morison or discussing art with Zane and Carol Baker. I remember how many times I have time travelled to listen to the Jewish king, Solomon’s court and how I had felt he was just a promiscuous, foolish, handsome young man who was so obsessed with himself. For me, Nino De Lencles was my fav and I famz him.

If you had known how much I journey everyday, you’d be wary of the Farthest I’ve gone from home. I stay home away from Home. I am in Esu’s Sepeteri every day. Travelling the world and travelling through time. One day, I intend to make my farthest journey and that will be back through millions of years to the Dragon and Dinosaur age. Long before man was created. Back to when Leviathans ruled Atlantis and Poseidon was God Supreme. Not as far back as they days of the Kraken or the Titans but some days within the reign of Obatal and Orunmila. When they walked through our patched earth as Men. As dragon Lords and Dinosaur kings.

I have plans of travelling to Never land with Peter Pan and Thinker Bell. Never to get old and always to be haunted by Captain Hook. You see how much I have travelled and intent to travel in my little mind.
Men and brethren, writers and art critics, the farthest I have gone from home is in my mind and believe me, it is awesome. You can judge me for this piece but it will always remain the farthest I have gone from home. Mbona!
