Where is Buhari? ~ By Ikechukwu Obi

A couple of days ago when the ‘flight to Cuba’ story was floating around, the Presidency in an attempt to debunk it released a picture which they claimed was Buhari that day in his office “working hard”.

Well, yesterday, that terribly implacable Imam Tawhidi on Twitter exposed that picture as being an old one. The Presidency of a country like Nigeria apparently had no idea that simple technology can ID a picture down to the date and time it was taken.

And so that leads to the natural question which I deliberately refused to join in before yesterday because the basis of my opinions always have to be rooted in some fact, not flights of fancy –

Where is the Nigerian President in the heat of a major global crisis which has visited Nigeria? Is this his (and his followers’) idea of leading from the front? Even when Boko Haram slaughtered 70 soldiers days ago (official figure 47), he remained silent.

If this is the idea of a Presidency foisted on us by power hungry potentates, my earnest prayer is that the consequences of such an absentee Presidency be visited first on those who brought this in in 2015 and then on the bigots who confirmed that peculiar uselessness in 2019.

If there is any justice in this world, they and their families will not escape the natural consequences of their deliberately perverse decisions.
