Why Buhari, others must openly declare their assets —SERAP

The Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has explained why President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and other public officials must openly declaration their asset

In a tweet on its Twitter handle on Friday, SERAP explained that Nigerians, all over the country, are opposing secrecy in asset declarations by public officials because open asset declaration is a tool to fight grand corruption, abuse of power, expose leaders living beyond their means, and hold them to account.

See tweet below:

Recall that recently, SERAP asked President Buhari, Vice-President Osinbajo, 36 state governors and their deputies to publish within seven days, detailed summary of their assets.

SERAP specifically demanded property and income contained in the asset declaration forms submitted to the CCB since assuming office.
