Why Sen Andy Uba Leads In Promoting Ndigbo, Anambra Interest In Nigeria ~ AUCC

By Centus Nweze

One of the governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election, Sen Emmanuel Andy Uba has stated that the collective interest of Ndigbo and the interest of others has always been his guiding principles.

He explains that such philosophy has served him well as demonstrated by his wide contact in Anambra, ala Igbo and across the country.

The aspirant made this declaration through the Andy Uba Campaign Council, AUCC, signed by its Director General, Chief Paul Chukwuma.

“Those who know me know that I have always spoken out in the interest of our people where ever they might be,” said the Senator.

It would be recalled that apart from being a key player in legislations and motions favouring the South East and Anambra in the areas of infrastructure shore up and fiscal aids, the senator has been outspoken on policies that affect Igbos.

One of such instance, according to AUCC, was that Sen. Uba’s voice was the only one heard some years back when the Lagos State government under Babatunde Raji Fashola continued the closure of the Ladipo market in Lagos State.

At the time, Dr Uba, as widely quoted in the media, described the action of the state government as a set back to livelihood of the traders and a drain on the state’s economy.

Recalling the verbatim quote of Dr Uba during the incident, the senator had said:

“The continued closure of the Ladipo market, which is one of the biggest spare part market in Africa is not only a drain on the country’s economy, but has adversely affected the survival of the traders.

“This is great source of concern to me as most of the traders are from Anambra State and I am worried that their source of living had been shut down for so long, making life quite difficult for them.

“In the interest of the harmonious relationship that had existed between the traders and the Lagos State Government over the years, I appeal to Governor Fashola to re- open the market urgently, so that these traders can resume their businesses without further delay.

“I believe that the issues, which led to the shut down of the market in the first place can be amicable resolved and normalcy restored”.

Stating further AUCC added that documented media reports shows that Dr Uba has always been at the forefront of interests that affect Anambra people and Ndigbo at large.
