Woe Unto You For Giving False Narratives Against Voters, Activist Tells INEC
Accuses the electoral umpire of infidelity
A human rights activist and author, Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Njoku, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC], of “giving false narratives against the Nigerian voters”. The rights activist described the Professor Yakubu Mahmood-led chairmanship of the electoral umpire of infidelity, cowardly, double-standard and unrighteous.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) denied having or using a server to upload results during the February 23, 2019 Presidential elections where the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was declared winner of the Presidential elections.
INEC stated their denial in the tribunal on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the ongoing Presidential election petitions Tribunal in Abuja where the candidate of the opposition party, Atiku Abubakar and his political party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accused INEC of helping APC/Buhari to steal their mandate and that they have evidence which is in the INEC server but INEC denied having a server. Buhari/APC objected the plea of the PDP to inspect the server.
Reacting on the development via a memo sent to us by Comrade Paul Njoku, he wrote:
“Woe unto INEC for giving false narratives against the Nigerian voters and against our collective sensibilities. No doubt, the Professor Yakubu Mahmood-led INEC chairmanship is cowardly and full of infidelity, double-standard and unrighteousness.
“It is now established that INEC under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government is a department in the ruling party. The institution has been shamelessly decimated to a mere farce and mockery to our democratic process having been tied to the apron string of a corrupt influence. The institution conducted and supervised the worst elections in the 21st century of the Nigeria history and finally came out to denial own shadow. God has certainly rejected this outright falsehood by the electoral umpire adjudged a failure in all aspects.
“Prior to the 2019 general elections, the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, consistently said that the 2019 general elections will be transmitted electronically. The incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was eventually declared “winner” after the elections whilst the opposition Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, challenged the election results saying he has the evidence of his victory from the INEC server. INEC said that the results were transmitted manually and that there is nothing in their server. After all, APC shouted and wrote a petition to the Police and the DSS that Atiku should be arrested for hacking into INEC’s supposed “empty” server. Atiku released the INEC server ID to proof he has the genuine election results thus the falsehood of the INEC that is muddying up issues to ridicule the institution before the World.
“The director of INEC’s ICT Department, Engr. Chidi Nwafor, who referenced the issue of the INEC servers so many times in his various recorded speeches and who was reported to had admitted recently that INEC had servers but that those servers had no Presidential election result would soon realise that falsehood of this sort is against God. A server simply means “a computer or a computer programme which manages access to a centralized resource or service in a network”. And this is what INEC is claiming not to have? With the biometric records of 84, 004, 084 voters nationwide, INEC is still denying that it has no server even when the 36(+1) Resident Electoral Commissioners and the INEC Directors of ICT (36+1) are contrarily saying otherwise.
“In the INEC Budget for the 2019 general elections as approved by the National Assembly is in the public domain. On its page 7 of the document; items 139, 143, 144 and 145 (230709) were for the Renewal and Maintenance of the Cloud Infrastructure, Reactivation and Upgrading of TEL Website including the Deployment of EMSC Android Based Small App. Also on page 9, items 197 and 198 (230803) were for E-trac and E-Collation. Also, items 210, 211, 212, 213 (230808) were for Replacement of Servers for 25 States in Nigeria and National Data Centre; Upgrading of Server Version of Open VR for Compatibility with New Dell Server; Migration of the Voter Registration Database from MySQL Open Source to Oracle DB. And on page 10, item 228 (230811) was for the purchase of New SIMs with Special Registration with NCC-for SCR and other devices for DATA TRANSMISSION and also with data bundle.
“In other words, the INEC Chairman, Professor Yakubu Mahmood, budgeted and collected billions of Nigerian naira to purchase and upgrade the INEC server and its related IT equipments but decided to tell Nigerians and the World that these transactions never happened and that INEC have no server!
“Is the INEC Chairman who allocated billions of naira to train and pay e-collation officers in each electoral ward in the country to transmit results to the server denying the knowledge of the exercise? Has he forgotten how he and his protégés boasted several times on the national and private television stations about their plans to electronically transmit Election Results from the Polling Units to the server in their Headquarters? Has he forgotten that the e-collation and transmission of results were on his publicised and published 2019 election guideline prior to the election?
“Has Yakubu suddenly developed a selective insomnia on how he and his spokespersons and other public enlightenment officials told the World on the national television how their use of electronic transmission of results will curtail “election rigging” and a “paradigm shift” from other elections conducted in the past?
“How can the INEC chairman forget how he lectured Nigerians and foreign observers on how the manual results copied into FORM EC8 A & E will be used by e-collection officials at the ward level to determine any discrepancy? Yakubu must tell Nigerians where the information from the millions of card readers were stored and how they were able to determine over-voting at the collation centres including how they arrived to declaring Buhari the winner.
“Yakubu’s pernicious and outright lies about the server imply that the electoral process was not adhered to and hence grossly manipulated. Rejecting its own server is the most important clue as to the real result of the 2019 Presidential election. It also proved that Atiku Abubakar truly won the 2019 Presidential Elections. The integrity and veracity of the INEC regarding its server is now the touchstone of the entire case which will not take too much to get to the root of the issue. I do not know who advised INEC leadership on this garbage of a story which the chairmanship now rest upon.
“I would not have reacted on this theatre of absurdity and infidelity from the vicious and shameless INEC but was compelled as I read the irresponsible and infantile nonsense written by and on the twitter handle of Festus Keyamo who was the Director, Strategic Communications of the President Muhammadu Buhari 2019 Presidential Campaign and who wrote and I quote:
“If a handful of electoral officers were compromised to ‘transmit’ results to ‘server’ then that server must have been stationed in Cameroon but certainly not in Nigeria. We need to go and retrieve them for a TV documentary: HOW TO MAKE QUICK BILLIONS FROM A PHANTOM SERVER!”
“The above shameless and juvenile-induced text was written at exactly 7:44am in June 14, 2019, by a supposed Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) whose utterances and demeanors are vividly expected to be complimented and commended by the defenseless and the voiceless but he utterly chose to be a rectum sucker of the Buhari government to the detriment of his conscience and his Southern people. Woe unto INEC for destroying and desecrating the sanctity of the electoral umpire”.
