Three men and a woman sales representative were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft and receipt of stolen 554 cartons of Mark Truck spare parts valued at N26 5 million.
The defendants: Chibuifem Ndiagwalukwe, 27, Chineye Anyaegbu, 26, a sales woman, Chinedu Ifediba, 28, and Ezekiel Cyprian, 27, were docked on charges bordering on conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen goods.
The prosecutor, ASP Clifford Ogu told the court that the offences were committed between November and Dec.22, 2020 at Zone B, Block 17, Aspamda Market, Trade Fair, Badagry Way, Lagos.
Ogu alleged that the first and second defendants, being sales representatives to the complainant, Mr. Edwin Arinze, conspired to steal 554 cartons of Mark Truck spare parts valued at N26.5 million from their employer’s shop.
Ogu told the court the third and fourth defendants, received the goods, knowing that they were stolen items.
He said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 287, 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. S. K. Matepo, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Matepo adjourned the case until March 22, for mention. (NAN)
